Super Suncare from La Roche Posay

I love me some La Roche Posay. As long as you do your research and get the correct products for your skin concern/type they are winners in the reasonably-priced-wonderfully-effective bracket. Their sun protection range Anthelios is without doubt one of the nicest SPF ranges I have ever used, and I've used a few.

First up is La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid. RRP is €19.50 for a 50ml bottle. A bit pricey, but well worth it as this it will last you your whole summer as you need very little and this is primarily for your face and décolleté. With a super high, broad-spectrum protection, this is the first step in summer skin protection.

As the name implies the new LRP Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid is a wonderfully light fluid that spreads easily and dries to a matte, non-greasy finish without the white or ashy colour that you sometimes get with very high protection formulations. This works really well under my Garnier BB cream (for oily skins) and under my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation.

You do need to give this a good shake before you use it. There is a little thingy inside the bottle that helps to mix the ingredients up before you use it. The bottle is small and fits neatly into your hand, and it is perfect for throwing into your toiletry bag for holidays as the 50ml tube is within the airline guidelines. The precision nozzle also means that you won't waste this.

LRP has outdone themselves with this beauty. I like it a lot. But I like this next one a lot a lot more.

The real winner for me though is the La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Compact Cream SPF50+. The Mirrored compact (with a little nookie for the applicator sponge) costs €21 and contains 9g of cream to powder awesomeness.

I try things before I review/photograph them, if its no good then it wont get reviewed

This is available in 2 colours :  01. Sandy beige & 02. Golden. And as you can see Sandy Beige suits my skin tone pretty well. And while this has a sponge included, I prefer to use my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to buff it in, this gives a really good finish.

Swatched

The formulation is buildable. I can use a light layer over the good bits and build up the coverage over my pigmentation. And I love how this makes my skin look, because it looks pretty flawless. And the other thing I love about this is that it has super high protection. SPF50 that you can re-apply and touch up without messing up your make up.The finish is velvety soft, and is a touch powery, but this will help to absorb oils/sweat through the day. A proper multi-tasker this is.

Blended

So here is a before Pic. Clean face, moisturiser only, coffee only just consumed. Ack. 'Scuse the scary black eyebrows. I had an encounter with a new brand of eyebrow/eyelash dye that said "Brown" on the box and despite following instructions EXACTLY ended up with these monstrosities. I swear I scare myself every time I look in the mirror. Every Time.

No filters or touch ups, but my hand shook when I pressed the shutterbutton so its a bit blurry. Sorry!

And I decided to do half my face you you can see the kind of coverage it gives. It is yellow based and warms up my skin a treat, without looking too dark. I'm looking half awake.

Right hand side of  face done. Left hand side bare and naked

This is the full face. No concealer, no blush, no nothing extra. Just Sandy Beige goodness. I do have to blend this a little down my neck, but I just use what is left on the brush when I'm done with my face. And you use surprisingly little product. I really, really like this.

All covered up. No touch ups or filters difital or otherwise :) and my eyebrows don't look so scary anymore

It costs less than a high-end foundation, offers fantastic SPF protection and contains no irritants so it is perfect for sensitive skins. It fits neatly into handbags/makeup bags so you can touch up your SPF and your makeup on the go. If either of the two shades suit you then this really is a great little product to splurge on for the summer.

Do yourself a favour and check these out when you are next at a LRP counter/stand.

** Both products were PR Samples sent for review, but opinions are my own.

  3. I've been eyeballing that compact cream it looks gorgeous on the skin! Pity about the shade range but I'd get use out of it while wearing fake tan!

  4. Great review, I'm thinking about trying out the compact, hopefully it will give a bit of coverage to the melasma on my face as it does to yours.
