Glowing: Neostrata Glycolic Peel... where I ramble.

Since the Neostrata Enlighten Illuminating Serum worked so well for me, I was delighted when this wee box of minis landed in the door. NeoStrata Glycolic Peel: "a high performance peel that is safe and easy to use at home and ideal for first time peel users. Instantly brightening skin whilst improving acne and scarring, this product has become a cult buy for those in the know, thanks to its anti-ageing and skin rejuvenating formula."
AHA! Another step towards un-pigmented, smooth, scar-free skin.

The box is very unassuming, as long ans as wide as my man-hand.

This is a long-assed post. you have been warned.

For a very reasonable €34.99 you get:
4 mini bottles of NeoStrata Facial Cleanser
4 sachets each containing a pad soaked in Citriate Solution
4 sachets of (Flipping Amazeballs!) Neostrata Bionic Face Cream,
And instructions on the back of the box.

Very Professional looking samples. Welcome to my home Salon!

The NeoStrata Glycolic Peel works at skin's surface to exfoliate dead, dull surface layers to stimulate the process of cell renewal to reveal fresher, newer cells. With regular use, this promises to:
- Refine pore size and smooth texture,
- Visibly diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Improve clarity and brightness
- Brighten and even skin tone
-Provide an all-over healthy glow, suppleness and smoothness to skin.

I couldn't wait to get stuck in... so I did on Tuesday 12 November 2013. And I was immediately impressed. The treatment is to be used on non-sensitive skin once a week to start with and eventually you can increase it to 2 or 3 times a week. My skin isn't particularly reactive at the moment, my skin care routine is pretty nourishing to encourage hydration as I have a few dry patches in among the normal/combo bits.

Foil sealed for freshness!

The little mini Neostrata RESTORE Facial Cleanser is an almost opaque gel with a faint familiar scent. I can't put my finger on it exactly. But is it soap free, super gentle and very very luxurious. It reminds me most like the cleansers used in facials I used to have... before I had kids. This cleanser feels so great on the skin, I used far too much for the first use, I dispensed 3 large-ish pea sized dollops of cleanser when just one would do. I was able to cleanse right down to my belly button. It rinses of easily with warm water and minimal rubbing.
I was ready to pledge my eldest child to this cleanser. There is enough cleanser in the 15ml bottle to last you a good week if you use a pea-sized drop at a time. And I haven't even used to to remove any make-up yet. Fear not reader... I will put this to the test. I have it on good authority that it works like a charm.

The Orgasmic Cleanser.

After orgasming over the cleanser I ripped open the package with the peel solution soaked pad and dabbed it all over my forehead. I expected tingling I got nothing. So I continued to apply the solution to the rest of my face and neck/decollete and I got a little bit of stinging in the crease of my chin. But the stinging stopped after 5 seconds even though I was ready to lash on water and more cleanser.

The Citriate Solution soaked pad is the same size as a normal  cotton pad.

Instructions say to leave the "Citriate Solution" on your skin for 15 - 30 minutes for the first time, but I have been using the illuminating serum which is supposed to encourage cell renewal and you are told to expect peeling with the serum, since I got no peeling or sensitivity with the serum I figured I would leave it on for 45 minutes to an hour. If I experienced any stinging I would take it off. I had no stinging. The only thing I experienced was stickiness. I touch my face far too often. That is what I learned from this experience.

One hour and no other stinging later... I retired to the shower to rinse off the peel and restore my skins pH levels with the Orgasmically awesome cleanser. My skin was super soft and baby-bum smooth. Softer and smoother than it has been in a while. But it did feel a bit tight... I wasn't that surprised, I had just used a chemical peel on my face... ergo...

it claims it is good for everything.... but is it really?

If I thought the cleanser was orgasmic, the Neostrata Bionic Face Cream is a multiple orgasm in a little sachet. I learned my lesson with the cleanser, I wasn't going to waste this on my belly button. I squeezed out about half a pinkie-nails worth of cream onto my fingers. More of a balm than a cream, this starts melting as soon as it hits body heat. So I rubbed it between my fingers and patted it onto my skin to distribute it and massaged it in.

Neostrata RESTORE Orgasmic Bionic Face Cream

Can you say Velvet? Because that is exactly how my skin felt as it absorbed the cream. To quote Craig Revel Horwood: "Uh-Mazing Dahling". Soft, smooth, not at all oily, but immediately comfortable after the initial tightness caused by the peel. I honestly thought I would need to use a bit more before I went to bed but I didn't need to. And my skin felt like velvet the next morning when I woke up. Wow. I continued with my normal routine:
Cleanse: Ren Rosa Centifolia Gel
Tone: Vichy Thermal Spa Water Spray
Serum: Neostrata Enlighten Illuminating Serum
Moisture: Avene Hydrance Optimal Legere

The first bit of proper rough dryness I felt came about on Wednesday evening above eyebrows and around my chin. No bother... I used a dollop of the cleanser when I got into the shower, massaged it in paying attention to the rough spots and I used my trusty Human+Kind cloths to remove the cleanser. No problemo. I used the OrgasmicBionic moisturiser again and went to bed to wake up to lovely skin. Again.

Friday (three days post peel) brought a few spots on my chin, wonderful hormonal spots (the kind with no head) to the surface. Blagh. I was kinda expecting them though. So I treated them and moved on.

It is Saturday (4days post peel) as I write this piece and most of the spots have dried up and mostly calmed down. My skin still feels like velvet. I am using the Neostrata Restore cleanser and the Bionic Cream in the evenings and I still have more than half the cleanser left but the cream is dunzo. I have something else to use in its place, but I shed a little tear when I had to chuck the sachet.

Initial impressions: Post orgasm glowing. I have only used it once so far but I am in Luuuurrrrve. So far I am sold on Neostrata as a brand.
I really like that I can take this with me on my holidays. The cleanser and sachets don't take up much space, and I don't have to bother taking extra cleanser with me because I know I will have enough in the samples.

The teeny treatment sizes will fit nicely into my suitcase....

And I can't quite believe the price. While this box is a PR Sample, I am already putting money away so that I can get my next fix when this one finishes (on the 3rd of December).

I will update as soon as I finish the treatment, but I am loving my velvety, mostly normal, post-non-sexual-encounter orgasmic glow.

Neostrata Glycolic Home Peel Kit is available from pharmacies and skin care centres throughout Ireland.
