Straight From the Horses Mouth: Mane 'n Tail Shampoo & Conditioner

I should have posted about Mane 'n Tail's Herbal essences back in January 2013, when I self-gifted the Herbal Essences Shampoo & Conditioner after trying the sachets. I kind of think that I wanted to keep their simple awesomeness to myself. But I can't do this any longer... I have to share it with the world.

Mane 'n Tail Herbal Essences Shampoo & Conditioner contains olive oil, well known for its smoothing, soothing and hydrating properties. And its soft, green creamy foam is just lovely on my hair. I think that Main 'n Tail is responsible for keeping my hair in such good nick, I haven't had a good proper haircut in just over a year.

I have a small issue with the Herbal essences conditioner though, even though it comes out in a lovely cream, I find that in smoothing it over my hair I never seem to be able to get it down to my roots. I end up having to dispense more product onto my hands and do my ends separately. So I am running though the conditioner at double speed. I got around this by asking my pharmacist for some distilled water and topping up the bottle when it got half way and giving the mix and almighty shake. Now its perfect: foamy, still creamy and I only have to dispense one lot.

I had to get my Pharmacy to order the Herbal Essences Variant of Mane 'n Tail for me as they only stocked the Original one. And my 355ml bottles with a flat-flip-top (that you can stand them upside-down on) cost me €8.65. After using it 2 or 3 times a week they have lasted me almost 9 months.

And then this arrived in the door: Mane 'n Tail Anti-Dandruff Shampoo & Conditioner**. Two big 473ml bottles of green creamy goodness... For Himself.

I am not entirely fond of this at the moment because it has a tendency to strip the (already temporary) colour out of my hair, I can see the colour as I rinse the Anti-dandruff variant out of my hair. I don't get this with the Herbal Essences Range.

But Himself and the kids are liking this. He says it is definitely helping with his flakiness and it has eased his itchiness. Liamo likes it because it gives "good bubbles and makes me have a mo-hawk and smells nice". I like it for Liam because it rinses out easily and his hair is incredibly soft. Hannah uses it once a week in conjunction with her Viviscal duo. And her hair is incredibly soft after using the Mane 'n Tail Anti-Dandruff stuff. The brush just glides through her hair.

Mane 'n Tail Anti-Dandruff Shampoo & Conditioner retail at around €13.95 per bottle and you should find them in your local Boots or Pharmacy.

  1. Oh god I want to try this now! I'm on a beauty spending ban at the moment and now this has been put firmly on my list! Argh. I've just bought Touche Eclat though, so the spending ban isn't going too well. Oh god I'm going to end up in boots today buying this aren't i?

    I am.

    Darn it!

  2. The anti-d one didn't strip my colour at all but it left me a bit of a greaseball when I started using it! Husband is also trialling it, his scalp is in a hoop after consistently using shower gel on his hair despite me telling him not to...

  4. Herbal Essentials, not Essence :) I must try this. I've been using the regular one for years and years, paying about 15 quid per bottle for shipping as you couldn't get it here back then. This is good news!
