Viviscal to the Rescue!

Shampoo and conditioner was a bit of an issue in our house. Was, because Viviscal Gentle Shampoo & Viviscal Moisturising Conditioner is "Totes Amazeballs" and is ticking boxes all over the place.

The ingredients are good for the hair and the skin on the scalp in general, and I recon this will be awesome for hair that has been over exposed to the sun, sand, salt and chlorine when on holidays. But we put it to the test:

First up: Hannah, my 8yr old suffers from eczema, has super sensitive skin everywhere (EVERYWHERE!!!!) and so we have to be careful of what gets prolonged contact with her skin. She gets an extremely flaky scalp that we often treat with a full on olive/coconut oil overnight mask. I checked the ingredients listed (no Major nasties) for the Shampoo & Conditioner, and was happy enough to let her try it out.

She loved the lavender smell, she loved how easily it rinsed out and how amazingly soft her hair was. And she even said to me that her "head doesn't feel as itchy". Win.

I also noticed a big difference in the condition of her hair when brushing it and tying it up. There are hardly any knots and the brush slides through her long hair. Her hair is extremely soft and smooth and it feels like my hair does after I come out of a Salon. And her hair smells lovely. Her scalp looked pretty good as well. A few flaky bits here and there, but we have only used it on her three times so far.

Next: Liam, my 6yr old son. He has super thick hair and HATES to get his hair washed cos I have to rinse rinse rinse to get all the shampoo out of his hair. And then there is the conditioner: WHAAAAAAAA!!!!.... But the Shampoo is so gentle that his hair doesn't need conditioner! And it rinses out really easily... another Win!

My Turn: I needed a bit more Shampoo than I would normally use, to really work the product into my roots, but it rinsed out really nicely and my hair felt soft, but clean. The Conditioner is equally lovely. I spread it onto my scalp and then worked it through to the ends and left it to work while I scrubbed. When I rinsed it out, it melted out of my hair and even while wet I could tell that my hair was going to be flipping soft. That would be the Argan & Hazelnut oils doing their job.

I left my hair to air dry and I have to say it was lovely, although I feel like I need a bit more conditioner on my tips. The big thing that I noticed is how different my scalp felt after using it. It felt really clean, with no build-up. I even did the scratch test (by checking under my nails) and I had zero flakes. ZERO!

I am going to leave this for my Daughter though as its the first Shampoo & Conditioner that doesn't irritate her scalp or the skin down her back. She likes to use it and it will last long enough that the cost won't too much of an issue for us.

I recon this would be great for stressed holiday hair, sunburned scalps and chlorine damaged hair. It is gentle enough to cleanse hair without stripping it, and the conditioner will restore vitality and and shine. I think it would be good for those with sensitive scalps as well as it is so gentle.

You can get Viviscal Gentle Shampoo and Moisturising Conditioner at Boots, Selected Pharmacies and Health Stores. A 200ml bottle will cost you €11.95.
