I wanted to Love it....I really did

... But I just can't.

I bought this duo to treat myself in April 2012, and I couldn't wait to use them. Daniel Galvin Junior Organic Hair Juice Orange Blossom & Lemon Shampoo & Conditioner cost me €5.99 (for 250ml) each from www.Cloud10beauty.com and as usual, delivery was super quick, even though I used the standard delivery option.

I have loads of thick hair, its in pretty good condition (it needs a good cut) and I find that washing it everyday makes it oily at the roots and dries out the ends. So every third or fourth day is good for me. Its mostly in a ponytail or in a french-plait, not much opportunity for it to get really dirty.

I should have taken a closer look at the bottles before I ordered the DGJ duo, because its for everyday use. Every Day. Oh poo.

It smells lovely, it is mostly organic and contains no SLS or other nasties, so don't expect loads of suds from the shampoo. Its Soil Certified and is a winner in the Natural Health Beauty Awards.

Man oh man I struggled with it. Mainly because it is just not suited for my hair. This would be perfect on fine hair that needs washing everyday. So I have given it to my husband to use.

But I do give it a go every so often, it smells like orange juice, lovely to use in the mornings. I have to lather this up in my hands before I apply it to my hair, otherwise my hair seems to just absorb the shampoo and nothing happens. I also have to use LOADS of shampoo to get through my locks. So its not ideal.

I didn't really get on much better with the conditioner either. It doesn't smell as nice as the shampoo, you can smell the almond oil more than the orange juice. And because this contains no silicones, its texture is more Lotion like. I have to use loads of this too, a fist full or product to just do my ends, and even then it feels like I could do with just a bit more. And a bit more. And just a little bit more...

This is just not suitable for my hair. I wish it was, because it makes my husbands hair soft and lovely and smells gorgeous. My Daughter's hair is soft and swishy and shiny and bouncy and smooth and gorgeous when she uses it, but its no good on my hair. Its just not. Sob.

  1. Oh no, I hate when that happens. And it's a fair amount of money to spend when something isn't right! I can't wash my hair every day either, it just dries up and I get a horrible dry scalp. I find Aussie and Tigi really good, maybe try some of them? x
