Eyeliner Blues....

Wiping the pools of drool off my keyboard (I blame Lovely Girlie Bits and Artdonatella for this). I mean seriously, just look at how it makes Karen's eyes Pop. GASP! yes GASP!

Karen's gorgeous peepers
And then on Andreea, who has almost my colour eyes, hers are a bit more greeny though:

Artdonetella in YSL Pool Pencil. I am so Jealous...

I closed the blog posts containing gorgeous pictures of an even more gorgeous YSL Dessin Du Regard Waterproof, No. 9 Azure Blue eyeliner pencil, or the YSL Pool Pencil as I know call it, and went to rummage in local Budget Make-up stands Essence and Catrice (and I dug out my The Body Shop Blue too) to see if I could find a dupe...

I haven't found an exact dupe yet... but this is what I found so far:

From the bottom to the top:
Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in 09 Cool Down €1.99
Catrice Kohl Kajal in 080 Lucy in the Skies  €2.49
The Body Shop Eye Definer Kohl in French Navy (€12 - €14 I think: I got mine in InStyle Magazine so...)

As you can see... I have used The Body Shop one the most. It is the softest Kohl I have ever used and gives a beautiful blackened blue colour. I am in the love. I use it to tightline my eyes and its not as harsh as black, so its perfect for day wear. It doesn't drag, blends nicely and sticks around all day.
But its not what I am looking for...

The Essence offering is a twist up pencil, and the little colour bullet is lovely and soft, but its not soft enough to be buttery, it doesn't sit nicely on the waterline, but goes on to my eyelid like a dream. The colour is more a dusty blue than I would like, but it is the closest (and cheapest) that I can find in my locale right now.
But its not what I am looking for...

The one in the middle is Catrice Lucy in the Skies. It is really light bright blue, too light for what I want, but still a really pretty shade. It is wonderfully soft and buttery and goes on without dragging or pulling. But its nothing like what I am looking for...

I would love to be able to afford the gorgeous €26 YSL one, but its out of my budget (and after having spent that much on it I would hope it would make tea at least) and so... to quote U2: I still haven't found what I'm looking for....
*ducks from incoming missiles*

I will keep searching...

  1. Great post missus, was so weird seeing my eyeballs in the thumbnail! Never see that heheh Keep on searching or just have one big treat to yourself and get Azure Blue. You won't regret it and the way I see it, don't buy like five inexpensive pieces of make up and get this one!

    1. I think my husbag would kill me if I spent that much on a pencil that could possibly be used by my 4yr old to colour a picture of the sea, or the sky... yes its happened...
