Skincare Update...

I wanted to post a bit of an update on what I am using on my skin at the moment. I am happy that I have found products that suit my skin and keep it mostly in balance.

However I am in the Duuuurrrrrttttyyy Thurrrrrtees, now, ie.: I am in my 30's and I firmly believe that prevention is better than cure.

Well. I can say that now... after I have already done the damage (in my stupid, sunlovin' 20's).

Sundamage is done. Unfortunately my budget is too bloody limited for me to splash the cash on something that might actually help the pigmentation. sigh.

So now I am just trying to keep my skin in good condition and stave off further damage (sunblock, hat and sunnies in the car at all times).

For me, this is what is working.... at the moment....

Cleanse: Boots Botanics Cleansing Balm (approx €10). Missing: my trusty face cloths.
Tone: Pharmacy Brand Witch Hazel and Rose water (approx €3.15 for 125mls) + Lacura cotton pads (Aldi 200 pads for €1.99)
Moisturise: Human+Kind Day and Night Cream (PR sample) mixed with a teensy amount of Vichy NormaDerm Anti-Age (RRP €22) when needed.

I am LOVING the cleanser. I have been using it since February 2012 and I am just now coming to the end of this lovely pot of goodness. I have to amend a statement I made in the post I did about it, it doesn't smell so much of roses as it does of Rose Geranium... I don't actually care what it smells like, its flipping heaven in a plastic jar and I love using it.

If I had to choose just one item to be stranded with it would be this. And the facecloths. I would make underwear out of the facecloths so I could take them with me. Yes. A flannel Bikini. Picture that if you will.

almost finished, about 12 days worth left

My toner is a little secret. Well, I suppose its not really such a secret any more. I need three things from my toner:
1) Remove cleanser remaining on my skin
2) help control my oily bits
3) help moisturise my dry bits.
This little cheap ass little bottle (that regrettably smells a bit like incense) does exactly what I need it to do. My skin feels good after using it, and thankfully the smell doesn't linger. It may be a deal-breaker for some though.
For now, its mostly natural, and its working nicely. I go through 125mls in about a month and a half, unless I am REEEEEEEEAAAALY careful, then it lasts me a solid 2 months. This bottle was bought at the beginning of April 2012 and I still have enough to get me most of the way through May.

With combination skin, moisturiser is a tricky thing. What is working for me at the moment is the H+K All in one Day and Night cream and at certain times of the month I mix in a teensy tiny bit of the Vichy Normaderm to help control any breakouts that may occur at that time of the month.

So far this is working to keep my skin in check. Its not changed anything apart from the fact that my break outs aren't as bad as they used to be, and they definitely don't last as long.

All in all, its a good regime for the moment. But I am going to need to up the ante a bit in the anti-ageing department... just as soon as I win the lotto....
