Childs play.... for Adults

Colour Infusion Longlasting Lipstain by Catrice (€4.49) is not a new product on shelves. But its a new product for me. I was having a browse on the stand, just kinda poking around and I spotted these tucked away between the Lipsticks and the Glosses.

I swatched a few of the colours and decided on No 030 Meet Mrs Rosevelt, a brownish pink colour.

The felt tip pen nib has a nice thin point so you can get a nice accurate line and they have left enough of the nib sticking out of the actual holder so you can angle the nib to get a fatter line to "colour" your lip in quickly.

I like that this is a bit chunky, its easy to hold and control and the lid clicks shut firmly so you won't worry about having what I like to call Bic Bag Effect (when you have 3 or 4 lidless bic pens floating around in your bag and they leave blue or black lines all over the inside of your nice cream bag lining).

You do need to shake the pen before using, but this means that you have enough ink in the nib to colour your whole lip in without having to tip the pen over to get the ink to flow into the nib. It smells lovely and faintly sweet and fruity and doesn't taste like marker at all, which is kinda what I expected, silly me :)

The longevity isn't the greatest. You will need to top this up during the day, especially in the middle of your lips. I generally struggle to keep any kind of lipstick/gloss/stain on my lips so I didn't expect too much from this, after all its considered a "cheapie". A single layer lasts about an hour on my lips if I use it solo, so I try to build up the colour by layering it. Eg: I put on my foundation then put on a layer of lip stain, then I do my concealer and then put on another layer of Lip stain, then I do my eyes and put on another layer of stain, letting the layers dry while doing something else. Then I lash on a lip balm (its a stain and it dries your lips out like a sumbitch) and go about my day. This way I get around 3 hours out of it not just a measly hour.

The pen is a great size so it would fit into any bag or pocket (in my case), and on the go touch ups are a cinch, when I remember to touch up (usually in the car while waiting for kids to come out of school).

Meet Mrs Rosevelt is a great neutral colour for me. I seem to have fairly pigmented lips, and this colour looks very natural on me, almost a "my-lips-but-better" colour, which I quite like. My lips look pretty good with this on, not like I am wearing a colour on it at all, which I also like :)

Nothing on the top lip, 1 layer of Catrice Lipstain on the bottom lip

I have had this for about 2 months now and I use it at least 3 times a week and it is showing no sins of drying up yet, not bad for less than a Fiver. Well worth checking out if you are on a budget or are looking for something different.
